My name is Kristi and I am passionate about making a healthy lifestyle be as delicious as possible. Over the course of several years, I have transitioned my eating to mostly whole, real foods. Recently I began working with a holistic practitioner who has helped me tackle my own health issues, including food sensitivities. I now follow a “whole foods” approach to eating that has completely transformed the way I view food…for the better. While at first thought, this way of eating seemed restrictive and boring, I soon found out it is anything but. Most importantly, I’m feeling better than ever before, thriving from nourishment of a whole foods diet!
I moved away from home and started a new chapter in my life as I strive to achieve my long-time goal of becoming a registered dietitian. Come join me for the ride, which will be filled with my cooking, baking, and fitness adventures along the way.
Below, I share why I first hopped onto the health-train and how I became an exercise lover:
Several years ago, I vowed to change my unhealthy habits and get serious about being healthy. I have always loved to eat. While I ate many fruits and vegetables, many other not so healthful items went into my mouth as well. Over time, I started noticing that all my snacking was starting to take a toll on my body. I didn’t feel good mentally or physically and my confidence dwindled because of it. One day, I finally got fed up with it and decided to start my journey towards a healthier lifestyle.
Since then, exercise has become a huge part of my life.
I found a passion for running and have completed several small races around my town. I enjoyed every second of it!
I caught the “race fever” and immediately signed up for more races.
I felt on top of the world each time I set foot on the pavement. Running gave me an outlet to get out all of my aggression, stress, and fear. It allowed me to clear my head and just be.
But running wasn’t the only thing I came to love…
Yoga also found it’s way into my life…and I couldn’t be happier that it did! Again, yoga has been a wonderful stress reliever, only in a whole different way than running. There is so much variety in yoga. I can completely relax my body and mind with it, or I can do an extremely challenging workout. It is so versatile, but whatever routine I end up choosing, I can be assured that I will come out feeling refreshed and revived.
I was having fun with running and yoga, but at the same time I still wanted to expand my exercise horizons. I have more recently become a huge fan of strength training and lifting weights.
I used to be intimidated by the weights side of the gym. I wanted to be in there, but didn’t even know where to start. I began reading online about lifting weights and gained some knowledge of some basic moves and routines that I could do. One day I was feeling extra brave and decided to just go for it at the gym. And you know what? I LOVED IT! Why had I been so afraid all this time? Lifting has done so much for my body and really changed the way I look and feel. I recently decided to continue building on my love for strength training by becoming a member of a local Crossfit gym. Crossfit has led me to a wonderfully supportive group of fellow-fitness-lovers and I feel truly at home there.
My lifestyle in regards to food and fitness is still evolving and my eagerness to learn just keeps growing as well. I hope to share some of my insight so that others may benefit, too.
